Our Special Thanks

The Board of Directors of First State wants to extend its thanks to Dwayne Enterline.  Dwayne's involvement with First State began with his adoption of Kiowa, and expanded to a term on the First State Board.  He also went on to adopt Nigel.  Dwayne has resigned from the Board, and we wish him the best, and look forward to working with him in the future!

I love my Calendar Girl (or Guy!)

We've received photos from a dozen or so adopters for the First State Calendar Contest...which means there are lots of hounds unaccounted for out there!!  We need lots of pictures, to have a pin up hound for each month, as well as lots of smaller pictures.  Your hound deserves a spot on the calendar!  Send your picture to AnOtterChaos@yahoo.com, or to Janet Selman, 414 Lawrence Ave., West Lawn, PA 19609 (please include SASE for photo return), by June 15.  Voting will start June 15, and conclude at the picnic, 7/14/07!

Is Macon one of the Boys of Summer?

What's New at the Picnic?

What's new at this year's picnic, July 14th?  Vendors!  We'll have a number of folks with fabulous things to buy for yourself and your hound!  Your bright yellow invitation should be in your mailbox shortly!

Gardening with Babe & Gus

Margaret, adopter of Babe & Gus, shares her adventures in gardening:

"Today was such as beautiful day that I decided to do some mulching in my shade garden. I got the mulch, backed the truck into the yard, and got ready to work. Then I thought, well before I open the gates and get busy, I'll get Gus and Babe out for a 'p.'

As soon as I opened the door for them, I realized my rookie mistake. The sight of my truck triggers  "YIPPEE, A TRUCK RIDE" and Babe and Gus lose their little greyound minds. Here's how it went..."

YIPPEE A TRUCK RIDE!

I'M READY...LET'S GO!

Babe figured things out, and went and laid down in the shade...Gus waited it out!   Babe & Gus are now busily sneaking into the "restricted" vegetable garden.

The Hounds Are Moving!

As spring turns into summer, more meet & greets and more activities means more adoptions!  Some of the hounds that arrived 5/12 are already getting ready to move into forever homes!  Four new hounds are coming in 6/9/07...if you'd like to be there to welcome them, and help them get ready to go into their foster homes, please contact animaluvr2@verizon.net for more information!

See you July 14th!
